For those that dont have it and want some idea of what it is like. Note that my connection in SA is shite.

Lobby.
Can search all servers and join any room.
Can chat in lobby before game starts and decide on the side you want to be on.
Only score card between rounds, you do not go back to the Lobby until all rounds (2-20 user decided) have been completed.

Clan Support.
Clan List.
Clan Invites from Friends list.
Clan Message system.
Clan Badge.
Clan Colours.
No Join Clan Members Room Option in Beta.
Invite clan members to your room.

Friends.
Friend List from XMB. Do not know whether game has its own merged or whether it adds to XMB.
You can invite from recent player list.
NO join friends room option in Beta.
Invite friends to your room.

Party System.
No Party System in Beta.

Maps/Modes.
Crossroads Large/Small only available in Beta.
All Modes can be played on both maps. (New elimination mode (last man standing)
Night and Day selectable.
Non Spawn/Limited Spawn/Respawn available.
Custom Weapon Loads (weapon banning).
Friendly Fire Optional.
Rounds 2 - 20 has to be even number. Teams swap sides half way through.
Time per round 2-20 mins.

Weapons.
Too many to mention, some old, some new. No Mines both sides have claymores. More choice on attachments for guns so a lot more scopes selectable etc.
You now also have a melee attack (knife) on L3.
Changing weapons is done with Circle and the D pad.

Character.
Default Loadout Selectable for each side.
Camo Selectable.
Appearance selectable (face/clothing).

In General.
Slant 6 have already made an announcement that they are making fixes to key areas as there have been problems with long load times, incomplete support of friends lists, no stats being recorded and people getting DC'd. Hopefully these changes will be coming about quickly and will be in place before the full release.

Graphics are a vast improvement on previous Socom games due to the power of the PS3. The detail within the map is good and Crossroads has new little areas to move around in even in the small (S2) version of the map.

Comms of enemies can now be heard through the TV when you are close to them and they are talking. For team comms it is push button (L2).

The general gameplay is good and very much like Socom games of old, it is hard for me to get a really good feel of it as I am playing on such a pony connection so keep getting connection issues during the game. Maybe others can say if that is just me or if it is a general experience.

Overall.
Looks like it is going to be great, they need to clear up the issues they have and hopefully the party system that they stated would be in the final game gets in along with joining people from friends lists etc. Also we will wait and see how the in game tourneys and stuff work as that could make for some good action on nights when we have no clan matches.

Hope this gives you a little understanding of what the game has in store.
