Smoking ban in Northern Ireland
Monday, 30 April 2007 09:11
A smoking ban in enclosed public places has come into effect in Northern Ireland.

It comes three years after the ban was introduced in the Republic.

Individuals will be fined £50 for smoking in a public place, while businesses could be fined up to £2,500 for failing to enforce the ban.

AdvertisementThe law will be enforced by local government environmental health officers.

The smoking ban is due to be extended to England on 1 July Laughing Laughing

Where does the street come into it?

Bus shelters and stations count (so long as it's surrounded by like three walls or something, I dunno)

But I don't mind in open spaces like the street... It's just when you're packed into a small space with loads of people, and someone lights up...

Well, the ban is there and you seem happy about it so if someone does spark a smoke up near you
then just walk away.............or even better still ask him or her do they have a spare smoke lol Laughing
